2011 Nissan GT-R

Now in its third year of availability in the North American market, the Nissan GT-R enters the 2011 model year with a number of enhancements and a simplified model lineup. The previous GT-R base model has been eliminated, leaving the GT-R Premium as the only available 2011 model.

Other changes include slightly darker wheel center caps, double clearcoat on the front and rear fascias and the addition of rear cooling ducts to improve cooling performance around the rear floor area. The suspension has been retuned and the rear bushing strengthened to enhance ride comfort while still maintaining the GT-R’s outstanding handling. In addition, auto on/off headlights and speed-sensitive windshield wipers are now standard, along with a USB iPod® interface, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and DVD playback. The navigation system now includes XM NavTraffic® and NavWeather™ capability (XM? subscription required, sold separately).

The 2011 Nissan GT-R is once again anchored by a 485-horsepower 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine matched with a high-performance 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. GT-R is built on an exclusive Premium Midship platform, which enables the use of the world’s first independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system. This system places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle, optimizing weight distribution and maximizing handling capability.

The GT-R suspension is a special Bilstein DampTronic system, and the braking system consists of Brembo full-floating drilled rotors, low steel high stiffness brake pads and Brembo monoblock six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. Tires are nitrogen-filled high-performance summer run flat or optional high-performance all-season tires on exclusive GT-R 20-inch wheels.

The 2011 Nissan GT-R is available now through approximately 650 official “GT-R certified” Nissan dealers across the United States. The names and locations of local GT-R Certified Nissan dealers are available to consumers on NissanUSA.com.

Revisions for 2011 include:

  • Simplification of the line-up to one fully equipped model – Nissan GT-R Premium
  • New slightly darker wheel center caps
  • Double clearcoat on the front and rear fascias
  • Addition of rear cooling ducts to improve cooling performance around the rear floor area
  • Retuned suspension with strengthened rear bushings
  • Standard auto on/off headlights, speed-sensitive windshield wipers and USB iPod® interface
  • Standard Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and DVD playback
  • XM NavTraffic® and NavWeather™ capability added to navigation system

2011 Nissan JUKE™

Distinctive, independent, adaptive and confident. Unlike traditional entries in the fast-growing compact hatchback/crossover market today, the all-new 2011 Nissan JUKE™ offers bold styling, unexpected levels of performance and an available advanced torque vectoring AWD system with performance technology usually reserved for premium vehicles.

JUKE’s aggressive styling brings a breath of fresh air to the segment. Built on Nissan’s proven global B-platform, JUKE looks exactly like it drives – fun, bold and exciting. The JUKE interior is equally aggressive with bolstered front seats, a wide instrument panel and a unique center console inspired by a motorcycle fuel tank and finished in a high-gloss paint.

Powering JUKE is a standard 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) Turbo, 16-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy inline 4-cylinder engine rated at 180+ horsepower and 170+ lb-ft of torque. The engine, the first application in North America, combines energetic performance and good fuel economy. JUKE’s available torque vectoring AWD system splits torque up to 50:50 between the front and rear wheels and can also can split torque from side-to-side across the rear axle. When cornering, the system helps reduce understeer and enhance the vehicle’s cornering feel.

Another new-to-Nissan technology debuting on JUKE is the innovative Integrated Control (I-CON) system. It combines control of the automatic A/C and the three-mode drive selector – Normal for everyday driving, Sport for a more intense performance feel and Eco for maximum efficiency, adjusting throttle, transmission (CVT) and steering feel for the precise ride the driver desires.

The 2011 Nissan Lineup: Charting the Changes

The arrival of the 100% electric 2011 Nissan LEAF™ ushers in a new era for Nissan and a new era for mobility. As a pure electric vehicle designed for affordability and real-world requirements, LEAF stands to be as much of a milestone vehicle for Nissan as the original Datsun 510, 240Z or Hardbody compact pickup – vehicles that changed the course of their respective segments.

Yet LEAF is not the only important, all-new model arriving at Nissan showrooms in 2011. First up is the dramatic new Nissan JUKE™ sport cross, featuring bold, motorsports-influenced styling inside and out – plus the first North American application of Nissan’s new 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) Turbo engine and advanced torque vectoring AWD system. JUKE will be available in fall 2010.

Then in early 2011, the stylish Nissan Quest mini-van arrives – re-thought, re-imagined and re-energized. And finally, the 2011 calendar year sees Nissan’s entry into the commercial vehicle market, starting with the 2012 Nissan NV.

The 2011 model year is also the 25th anniversary year for another iconic Nissan, the groundbreaking Nissan Pathfinder SUV – an event celebrated with a special 25th Anniversary Edition model. And, there are important enhancements to many other 2011 Nissan models. Following is a brief overview of the changes, refinements and enhancements to the complete 2011 Nissan lineup. Full information and specifications on each vehicle will be available, as always, closer to each model’s on-sale date.

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported March 2010 sales of 95,468 units versus 66,634 units a year earlier, an increase of 43.3 percent, compared with March 2009.

“As the industry continues to show signs of life, we want to make sure that Nissan continues to get an even bigger piece of the sales pie,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, NNA. “After achieving a record 9 percent share in the first two months of 2010, our 43 percent increase in March confirms Nissan is a big winner in the industry.”

NNA INFORMATION

  • Combined Nissan and Infiniti sales of 95,468 units were 43.3 percent higher than March sales a year before of 66,634 units.
  • To ensure consistency in global sales reporting, Nissan North America calculates monthly variances on a straight-percentage basis, unadjusted for the number of selling days. March 2010 had 26 selling days, compared with 25 selling days in March 2009.

Nissan sales increase 44 percent on strength of both cars, trucks
Nissan Division sales totaled 85,526 units, an increase of 44 percent over March 2009. Nissan set a March record for car sales, including Versa, up 105.1 percent; Maxima, up 93.0 percent; and Altima, up 26.3 percent. Trucks also demonstrated strength, with most models showing double-digit percent increases over March 2009.

“The Nissan division saw sales in March at the highest rate since last August,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division. “We’re particularly encouraged by the performance of core models like Altima, Versa, Sentra and Rogue, which drive our business.”

What is a home Assesment

What is a home assessment and why I need it?

To charge your Nissan LEAF overnight, you will need a level 2 (standard) chargin dock in your home.

The home assessment is a visit to your home by a certified electrician to determine where the dock will be installed and what work will be neccessary to complete the installation.

NISSAN ISSUES VOLUNTARY RECALLS ON SELECTED VEHICLES TO CHECK BRAKE PINS AND CORRECT FUEL GAUGE INACCURACIES

03.02.2010 , FRANKLIN, Tenn.

NISSAN ISSUES VOLUNTARY RECALLS ON SELECTED VEHICLES TO CHECK BRAKE PINS AND CORRECT FUEL GAUGE INACCURACIES

Nissan North America (NNA) today announced recalls to inspect and, if necessary, repair brake pedal pins and fuel-gauge components on certain trucks and minivans. No accidents or injuries have been reported with these issues.

“At Nissan, we’re committed to the safety and satisfaction of our customers. We regret any inconveniences that our customers may experience as we take these precautions,” said Kevin Martin, vice president of Total Customer Satisfaction for NNA.

These recall campaigns involve a total of 539,864 vehicles, a majority of which are in the United States.

REASON FOR THE RECALLS
There have been three reported instances of brake pedal pins partially disengaging, causing a loss of normal braking ability, and Nissan has determined that a manufacturing error on the part of the supplier is at the root of this issue. All vehicles currently on sale are free of this problem.

Unrelated to the brake-pin issue, vehicles at higher mileage levels may have fuel gauges which incorrectly indicate the amount of fuel in the tank. This may result in the vehicle running out of fuel while the gauge reads greater than empty. All vehicles currently on sale are free of this problem.

VEHICLES INVOLVED
Models and numbers of vehicles with potentially affected brake pedal pins are:

  • 2008 through 2010 model year Nissan Titan, Armada, Quest and Infiniti QX56
  • 178,916 in the U.S., 25,869 outside the U.S. (see box for locations)

Models and numbers of vehicles with potential fuel gauges inaccuracies are:

  • 2005 through 2008 model year Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56
  • Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008
  • 418,865 in the U.S., 53,253 outside the U.S. (see box for locations)

WHAT OWNERS OF POTENTIALLY AFFECTED VEHICLES SHOULD DO
Beginning in March, owners of potentially affected vehicles in the brake pedal pin recall are being notified to bring their vehicles to a Nissan or Infiniti dealership for a quick, simple, visual inspection and, if necessary, repair.

Also beginning in March, owners of potentially affected vehicles under the recalls for fuel gauge inaccuracies will be notified as to when they should bring their vehicles to their dealers for repair. Until their fuel gauge senders are repaired, customers with potentially affected vehicles are encouraged to maintain a fuel level of at least a half-tank.

Customers with questions are encouraged to contact Consumer Affairs at 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261) for Nissan vehicles, or 1-800-662-6200 for Infiniti vehicles. Customers may also contact their respective authorized Nissan or Infiniti dealers.
